Nichimo Lancia Stratos
a Nichimo Lancia Stratos. Nichimo, like Tamiya's early RC cars, where based on their 1/12th scale kits, but as far as I can tell Nichimo never had the success that Tamiya had. Information on these kits seems to be very hard to find. This is my third Nichimo rc car and the second on road one. This chassis is also very similar to Tamiya first Porsche, so I am wondering if they copied it. It does have a basic suspension setup for the from wheels though.
Apart from the discoloured body, its not too bad. There is one crack at the front of the chassis and as far as I can tell its only missing a rear tail light and maybe the wing mirrors.
Like all rc cars of the time, it came with a mechanical speed controller, but this ones seems to have an early electronic one fitted at some stage. Its got 'Century Systems' written on the side, but I haven't been about to find any info on them. The original speed controller was also included as well as a second one, but not too sure if that is a Nichimo one or from another car.
If anyone has a manual that they can scan and send to me, I'd be very grateful.

Very nice car, I almost bid on that one, mostly for the speed controller alone! Although, who doesn't love a Stratos???
The speedy is a Century Systems OziFet, and I had one back in the day in my PB Mini Mustang. I've been searching for another one for years, so if you decide to put the MSC back in, let me know! if you want to keep it, I can send you a scan of the review from Dirt And Track magazine... that's about the only info I've been able to scrounge!

cheers incredible_serious. I'm not particularly interested in the speed controller, so I will pm you over the weekend.

Wow, what a cool lovely retro piece. Those spot lights look great. Shouldnt be too hard to model some rear lights for it.

Hi Mortm, still working on it. Like all my other projects, in the last few years life has gotten in the way, but I am hoping to be able get back to building/restoring this year.
they are nice than Tamiya, body use display, got suspension and diff gear, just can not use 540 is a problem, tire like real, Nichimo Lancia Stratos one of the best realistic at 1977, very nice, but very easy broken, because original body all door engine hood can open, and i got 3, one still in box, one under renew.
they got many 1/12 but rear axle no diff gear and body very nice quality, better than early Kyosho a lot.
