After a previous project came to a finish, I ended up with quite a few spare TA chassis parts left over. Those parts became another project... the TA02 Brushed Speed Project. The idea was to make a TA chassis go as fast as possible using only a Nimh battery, brushed power and a chassis that should consist of mostly vintage parts. After buying a motor (Orion 2x6) which happened to have a blue alloy heat sink on and then an ESC (Ripmax Unlimited) which also had a blue heatsink on, the blue theme kind of just happened. I also put the Tamiya Speed Tune Gear set on too, it goes ridiculously fast. I chose to put another set of boots on for test runs as didnt want to spoil/damage the rare staggered wheel and tyre set you see in the pics. I also played safe and fitted a 2.4 Spectrum receiver, yes I know its not vintage but from experience, one radio glitch at these speeds can be costly. I've also got this chassis handling really well with adjustable uppers and near perfect suspension set up. The only tweak I want to make is changing the rear shock oil from #600 to #700 so it corrects on a single rebound, just like the front does. Cheers

Nice build! What kind of speeds are you seeing?
Dirt-540
@EMSPJAY Not sure of exact speeds but I'm guessing late thirties. It could be more but I don't have the technology needed to establish an accurate gauge.

That's PRETTY! Superb work.
SRB Bloke
Sweet looking chassis.
neobrunox
The best TA02 i have seen ! Be careful with your right rear wheel nut, it seems to be not tight enough ! i lost a wheel running like that
Meakz1973
I don't know anything about on-road cars but I know this is a beautiful chassis. Great photography too.
Re-Bugged
That is one gorgeous chassis, lovin' the wheels. I wouldn't mind something like that as a Street Scorcher display chassis.
MAD-BEE
Looks too nice to put a lid on it!!
KEV THE REV
That is a very cool chassis - love it !!
Huizy
Lots of great stuff on that one! Nice to see the detail too.

ta02 chassis is a super cool chassis and you have done it justice.

@ANDYJCCLOD and SRB BLOKE, thank you guys. @NEOBRUNOX Well spotted, for some reason that wheel just wouldn't go on as fully as the others, however the boots I used to run it I made sure they fitted securely. @MEAKZ1973 It's amazing how a bit of cardboard can improve your photos, thanks. @RE-BUGGED Good idea on the TA01 /Scorcher shell idea, I do wonder what the tracking and wheelbase difference is if any at all. @MAD-BEE As this build came along and developed I decided this isn't going to have a shell as I like the look of it as it is. @KEV THE REV Cheers mate. @HUIZY Thanks for mentioning the detail, I wonder if anyone noticed the aluminium bracket I made to fit 2 fans and to get them positioned exactly where I wanted them. @KALSH Thank you, I love the TA family of chassis, one of the best fun runner chassis' by Tamiya.

Very nice job,,I've always been a fan of the TA-01 and TA-02 from the very beginning with the exception of the molded in rear lower A-arm mounts and the stock wobbly drive shaft, the latter and easy fix with aftermarket parts.
Dirt-540
@SCOLLINS Thanks. As of yet I've never had a problem with molded mounts, though its definitively worth upgrading the shaft. Especially when you see how much it flexes under duress. To be fair though I still have one of the standard shafts in my Humvee with locked diffs and 80turn motor and it still seems to work.
