Apologies for another non Tamiya post, but I had to put these pics on. I asked my Dad to run my Graupner hovercraft while I ran my Nitro one, we didn't collide once!! Excellent fun!! I would recommend a proper RC hovercraft (not one of the toy ones) to anyone. By the way, the nitro one is approx 3 feet long which makes it quite a sight to see. I've since finished painting it and can sometimes be found scaring people on Weston Super Mare Beach!!

Very cool, reminds me of a beach run with a Hovercraft I had with someone who home-built on with a brushless system. With 16 cells hooked up it realyl started to get insane! What brand is the Nitro one actually?

The Nitro one is a Simprop Hoverstar, I think they were made in Germany, they stopped making them a while ago, this one was in bad shape when I got it off ebay, rebuilt it, popped in a new engine and now she's running and painted. Could do with a new skirt though (if anyone's got one please let me know!) check her out in my showroom under misc runner.

Very nice RC hovercraft you have there - I'm a bit of a fan of these myself. I have a kit based on the military SK-5 that is electric. Just in the process of switching over to LiPo batteries (MUCH lighter) and have upgraded race motors in mine. A great website for all things RC hovercraft related is: [Click here] The site has everything you need to know and some very experinced builders on there. You will probably find someone on there that has made a replacement skirt for the Hoverstar. Personally I would take the old one off and use it as a template and make a replacement one from ripstop nylon (available from most kite stores). My next hovercraft project is going to be a scratch build SK-5 from some plans from Model Boats magazine back in the 80's. They are great fun, and the beach is the best place to use them .

Great that you took them to the beach, where they belong to. It looks very realistic.
