Ok this truck has been done for a while so I figured it was time to add on some more detail bits and here is the first installment. Every truck needs a hitch, even the 1/10 scale ones. I've thought about having a 5th wheel hitch in the bed, but ruled against that because I really wanted a tradional hitch so I could tow or drag stuff. Seeing as my truck is pretty much based on a 1/14 semi truck, I figure I should be able to tow/ pull quite a bit. I started this project with the idea that I would have to make a new ball mount from scratch. So I started using steel stock, a torch, and an anvil. This was tedious work because the torch doesn't get as hot as I really need it to. About two hours into this, I found this lovely piece of aluminum that looks like it was made for it. So I scraped the homemade ball mount, although it was a good learning experience for my next 3 speed truck, more metal, less plastic. Anyway, the hitch is really made from two King Hauler body mounts. The ball is just a plan ol 5mm ball. The pin was a link pin from the fifth wheel on the 1/14 trucks, that I cut down and drilled for the body pin. To mount the hitch to the frame I had to make an aluminum plate that is bolted to a cross member. Next hop up is probably going to be an exhaust. Any other hop up ideas?

It was worth the effort! How about a TC sticker in the back window of the cab ?!
Brat Attacks
That's a lovely looking piece of detail kit you have made there.

Real chrome metal roll bars with 5 bright spots.Perhaps mud guards. Nice truck.

fire and smashing metal. what more could you ask for?

That is one awesome truck! How about a 4' chrome exhaust tip. Maybe from BANKS?? We all know it's a Turbo Diesel. Very sweet ride!
TF, I think you trick us. It is really a 1:1 and through photoshop you shrinked it down to make it look like 1:10 scale. If that is real I am Ronald McDonald, Sorry TK had to rub it in. 8-)

Looking good as usual dude, the hitch looks great. Now that you have a hitch you must have a trailer, I'm thinking a dump box trailer. Then once that is finished this rig is BEGGING!!! for a snowplow. I bet the MFU they make for the new F350 will work well for this truck as well.

Thanks Mike, I'd actually like to have a trailer to pull my new built Grasshopper about. I've never made a trailer before though. I seem to remember one in your showroom recently?

I think the mudguards are begging to go on there with classic 'chrome lady' decals on it. And of course, if you were in texas, you would need a gunrack and the infamous 'Texas two-headed driver' Email me for more details on this if you don't know what I mean. I still like this truck and want one of my very own.

Mudguards are in the future, I've got some extra 1/14 semi flaps just sitting around (where would I be without the semis?) Not sure if I'd want the chrome ladies on them though. Gun rack certainly has possibilities, hard to see through the glass though. Not familiar with the two headed driver, you'll have to email that one. It'd be nice to have some choice bumper stickers, but I'm so picky about stuff like that, I know it won't happen!

A scale tearplate toolbox behind the rear window, to store the hitch that would -do- it i think. Great model!
bangstick
Is that the winner of the 'model tamiya should of made comp' ? Real nice work fella

I think that 5 orange rooflamps would suit this truck..
Otherwise than that, it just gets cooler and cooler..
Cheers..

I'm with Cul-Tech - can we have a snow plough please?!!! ...and some snow chains !

A toolbox seems possible, need to find some 1/10 diamond plate, anyone? I agree it is missing the roof lamps, I don't think you can get a truck like this without them. I'm still stuck as to where to source them. I have some leftover LEDS from my MFUs, but nothing to fit them in. A snowplow? Are you guys crazy?! I guess it does have 4wd....
Keep it up. You are really making Tamiya look bad, real bad.

How about making a custom sun visor, and fitting the orange LED´s into that? Surely that must be possible for you to do easily, already having built this fantastic thing.
Otherwise, just go for plain 'redneck' design, and use the 1/14 lamps from the rigs. And perhaps the horns also. LOL.. Snowchains?. Hmm, yes, why not? I also have a set of homamade chains on one of my XC´s.. they are made following the directions in an old RC guide book from Tamiya, and really not too hard to do. (does take a while though.)
Cheers

The best 3 speed ever, getting even better!

words cannot begin to describe how awesome this truck is. Great Job
Looks great the way it is Nice Job. A nice added touch would be a Headache rack to protect the back window and a dymond plate tool box under the headache rack. Over sized tailpipes
