Well my last entry was lost, so thought id re-enter this car with updated pics. Cant be bothered going through all the mods again but lets just say its took me ages to get to this level. And now im single again i can crack on with it without moaning women! Anyway, it should be in its first coats of paint in a couple of days, something im looking forward to and also dreading...i just hope the paint goes on ok and doesnt decide to react like it sometimes does :-(

Made some rear shock mounts from ally plate,so 2 front shocks can mount at each side, giving it a more racey long-travel look. Ally guard made for the rear cage, and all chassis powder coated satin black. Wheels are Rough Rider items with hop-up ally wheel trims.

1 Whats everyone reckon?

Cor !! ,love that rsend - looks like the original Baja type fibreglass shape .The stinger looks a bit boxy though ,or is that the weeks groceries in there ? .Top job mate ,clean well before spraying and you should be reaction free

Very nice. This will definitely be one of the best Scorchers on TC, without a doubt. Arch liners and home-made twin shock conversion very smart. Can't wait to see the finished article.

I am just GAGGING to see this finished lad! Like I said to ya last week.. OY!!! No, I mean it just looks sooo right. The black chassis is nice & subtle with those gorgeous orange shocks on the rear. The body ya can see heeps of work, & looks one of thee most realist baja's I've seen to date in Tamiya form. Amazing work fella! Just don't f### up that paint

Heck , even sitting in just primer that looks great . Kind of the independent entry look for a desert rally . Definately a great job with it so far ....

Very, very nice work matey! I can apprecaite from my own mods just how many hours you've put into this. May I courteously suggest yellow dampers with 'Bilstein' decals on them for to match the decals on the arch inners?

Volksrod

17-Jul-2006

They would look good mate but i cant be arsed taking the shocks off n sanding them again, n then waiting for em to dry, n re assemble em!

Looks fantastic just had to go through loads of pages to find this been on holiday for 7 days its come along well from when you started .

24-Jul-2006

Absolutely smashing VR! Always been a fan of your Bugs, I would suggest leaving the shell primered, for a real Rat Rod look!

You have raised the bar once again Joe, just when I thought I was 'Volksrod cool' with my cut down beetle body, you bust this out. As a 'car designer' I appreciate all the surfacing work you did on the body, it's seamless and you must have spent a good amount of hours on it. Don't wreck this one and can't wait to see it running in the next Sand Scorchin' vid!

Its sat here in white paint now matey, still got to decide on a colour scheme yet. check the last pic...what dya think?

Rothmans Racing Team

1-Aug-2006

I don't really care for the scheme that much mate. But, I don't have to look at it. I know, I know, no Rothmans, but it doesn't seem right for some reason. How's that for constructive criticism?

Volksrod

1-Aug-2006

well,i could tell ya to 80110CKs, but im not that keen either. prob look better when painted on, anyone got any ideas?

Rothmans Racing Team

1-Aug-2006

There are a lot of things you could tell me. But, I'm glad you didn't. I'd hate to have to hop on a plane just for some skull crackin'! Doesn't really matter what everyone else likes chap, long as you like it! Either way, you can strip it, right?

ukzz4iroc

1-Aug-2006

Somehow the primer looks right to me? Awesome bug man.

Volksrod

1-Aug-2006

Im tempted to go back to the simple red and white scheme like on my first desert racer. your right i could strip it again, but ive spent enough time getting it this far!

1-Aug-2006

I think the paint scheem looks great!
Kind of new style on a bug more to dragracing prostock bugs!!!
DO IT!!!
=)

Badboy

Don´t want to point with my finger but if you want it to be
correct, then it´should be numbered 500-579 (class 5-1600)
Cheers
Looks cal-look style

Volksrod

1-Aug-2006

Im not really bothered about total authenticity, the number might just be a favorite position of mine...who knows?!

TWINSET

delux

18-Aug-2006
