NOVAK 5.5 Brushless HOTSHOT yeeehaaaa
Here's my piece of vintage FUN !! It took some doing, but I eventually managed to shoehorn the Novak GTB 5.5 into it. Had to resort to using the HS2 mechanism box to get the hatch for cooling. Then had to hack the cover plate to allow the fan space to breathe - just enough clearance under the body so it doesn't seem to get too hot. I've rebuilt the gearboxes and shimmed them out to eliminate as many probs as possible. Currently runs on 6 cell nicads and is insane !!! I did try it on 7 cells just for a laugh and there was a huge difference - it actually started to wheelspin half way through the throttle on tarmac !!! Only trouble was the gearboxes couldn't take it and it ate them on the first nicad pack 8-( Is seriously good fun on loose stuff - you just cant stop it. It was originally built as a HS1 but unfortunately the front shock just wasn't up to the accelerating and braking torque of the brushless setup - it was up and down like a yoyo !!! - used to bottom out the front end on heavy braking and scrape the underguard on the tarmac !!!
Not sure what the top speed is, but it's pretty fast. Will 'borrow' a laser speed gun from work (work in road safety) soon and clock it accurately. Out of interest has anyone out there compared the new 4.5 motor against the 5.5 ? I would be interested to hear......

It couldn't have happened to a better car. WOW, I wish I had the balls to do that!!! Let's see some laser video runs please, no more eating up those expensive gears now.
