Rotary Rocket
Couldn't wait to get my hands on one of these shells after I found out Tamiya were releasing an FD RX-7. I've always loved the style of this generation of RX-7 but figured it could be toughened up a little. After getting this shell from Stella (top service as always!), I decided to add a few little bits to make it look like a tuned car. I therefore added the HPI Volk TE-37s, Yokomo GT rear wing and canard set plus a few extra stickers. The colour is Tamiya PS-15 backed in black with TS-50 for the hard bits while I added trimline to recreate panel gaps. I'm really pleased at how this came out although now I fancy doing a full on D1GP look one! Ah well, at under £20 posted I can afford to do a few!

your addiction to RC is way over the top, look at how run down your house has become with you always spending money on RC :o0
lol looks real cool and nice choice of colour

It'll look good once it's finished fella, a lot of the HPI shells include the blower, or pinch one from a Clod.

Looks sweet love all the detail.I think you need a big bore exhaust tailpipe to finish .

I agree. I have the pipe but can't find the mounting kit!
Very nice my little ginger Skoda driving friend (told you I'd log-on specially to look!) - the only thing I'd say is the panel lines always look more realistic if you use a dark shade of the body colour rather than black but I do really like what you've done matey. Can I go now?

Ah hah! I missed this one - I love those TE37s!

Excellent job, looks real in some of the pics, great attention to detail. Hope to see it in a movie soon, or is it a shelf queen?
Very nice!!! Still think it should be lower tho..?!
mr_pushrod
This is definately a runner, just need to work out the best way to stick the upper canards on. I'm happy with the height as it is, it's a runner not a shelfer plus I think you can go too low. Cheers for the comments everyone!

now it all makes sense why you have taken a keen interest in my tuners . this was always my favorite mazda(and i own a miata) and i have always wanted this model, one of tamiyas best i.m.o. this is a fantastic example of how to take a stock kit to the next level and a real template for all to see how a great location can really make the pics jump off the page. some of these shots look like the opening moments of a top gear episode and i am expecting clarkson to walk out, get in and tear off in this lovely beauty.
