Here are some photos of the car that probably inspired Tamiya's 'Blazing Blazer.' It was a Baja racer in the 1970s, which was itself inspired by the Stroppe Broncos of the period. Note that it is 2WD and has independent front suspension, not a straight axle. Paradoxically, Tamiya's CC01 Jeep Wrangler has IFS, while all real Jeeps have solid front axles. Note the 'Rough Rider' parked nearby in picture #3.
