This is so great! Wonder why the tire lettering is removed? It´s hard to belive Tamiya will sell this kit with new tires whitout the lettering when the rere grasshopper tires have lettering?
Curious thing, Tamiya already have the Grasshopper tires which have the tire logos. Well guys run to buy the TC repro decal. An interesting point here is that the vintage is coming to be a very valuable kit again, it's obvious never will be as is again, and NEVER is a definitive word now.
I agree, tires should not be a problem. I think that they are running a proto-boxart for publicity an speculations (they did it with the RR-re-re) just to wake-up the flame. I hope they go with the old tires and vintage body, if not the whole 'tamiya scene' wil be very very very disapointed an they should not re-re it.
Seems like the Scorcher repro decals will stay a useful product for people who refuse to use fake sponsors And eh, I think it would be strange if the sponsors will not be on these tires, but are on the previously released cars with these same tires. Strange decision by Tamiya...
PS: Check TamiyaBlog out, they've posted pictures of the Tamiya Fair... Every single sponsor is fake, the letters above the doors are indeed [Click here] and there is no tire lettering - this may mean the from now on released buggies with the same tires will miss the tire lettering as well!
BIG disapointment.... The body is the Monster Beetle-type with different (cut open) fenders and moulded in doorhandles...
I knew a real SS was too good to be true.
Now it´s just a Buggy Champ with MB-body. Pity...
The text above the door defenately is 'www.tamiya.com'. And it seems it has the dark windows instead of the clear ones. A MonsterBeetle body...? Who's waiting for a MonsterBeetle body for G*ds*ke...!
Crap. Like we say in Sweden: It went up like the sun and down like a pancake.
HOW could Tamiya mess this up???
It looks like the SS-clones that´s been arround on TC for ages! Where is the charm of the original?
The return of the blisterpacks in the Buggy Champ-kit suggested that Tamiya understood how mush the details ment for the overall nostalgic experience. Even the Hi-lux got ít´s original body rereleased and now Tamiya decides that one of the greatest rc-icons will be rereleased in the form of this...***** creation.
If this represent the final product then I´ll hold on to my wallet and wait for the rere Super Champ instead.
It does seem like a disappointment for the MB body to be perched on a SRB chassis, but it beats nothing at all in the realm of a re release. I don't know for sure, but that nosecone sure looks like it could be a Blitzer Beetle carry over. Very disappointing that Tamiya killed the writing on the tires again too. This may be setting us up for a MB re re too since the body is back for this car, wonder if they will mold the ORV chassis in red or another not so great color????? We should all get on a petition to Tamiya for what we want to see them reissue and how to do it.
Ok, now I'm getting real scared!!! Something is wrong with that nosecone AND those rear wheels, don't you think? And it definately is the MB shell. Grrrr you *¨'**°¨* ! It's a 'No Go' and a big anticlimax as they prenounced it to become the most smashing RC event of the century.
It will be very interesting to see how many that will pay $300+ for a Buggy Champ with a Blitzer Beetle-body.
Oh well, I guess some parts of the body will be useful on my vintage REAL SS-bodies. To Mr Tamiya: PLEASE DONT MESS UP THE SUPER CHAMP TOO!!!!!
The third pic is definately a SS-shaped body. Could it be a rejected prototype or perhaps an old original put on display for comparison? Hard to see the decals, but don´t they look more like the original ones? Unfortunately I think we are stuck with the 'Blitzer-Scorcher'.....

Yeah but decals are nothing and the tyres you can still get easily with the lettering on and would be surprised if they came without it.

Does anyone have any idea how much these are going to go for in US$?

I think I am going to forgo my new laptop for this kit.

I know I will be getting one of these. I have a RR project so didn't see the need for an entire Buggy Champ kit, but will not forego the SS re re kit.

Does the sticker above the drivers window mean we finally get a driver name?
Herby
probably the driver name is 'www.tamiya.com'

This looks like a second attend. It looks more hopefull. The fenders on this proto. look like they are curved on te outside (yes, yes, yes?!).
