I'm not usually into speed at all but I actually do know how to drive fast without crashing (much lol) and I have driven some insanely fast machines in the past so when this turned up from Tamiyadeals on ebay for $199 NIB (aka Tamiyausa) I simply couldn't pass it up, it sits on a TBLE-01 chassis which looks to be based on the TB-01 tub which is among my favorite chassis, but the suspension arms are from a buggy and it has beefier dog bones from the Hotshot re-re. I was amazed it has a brushless motor system installed apx 16t which is more than adequate for anything I'll ever do. The body is very nicely finished and the wheels and tires seem to be bigger than 2.2. I don't personally like the chrome or shine look of the truck but most kids would love to see this flying down the street I suspect. I will build some sort of a fun project out of it soon. I always liked my Blitzer Beetle so expect me to pursue a project along those lines ;)

Not my typical toy but looks fun more box stuff more box stuff last box pic, I need to open this I paid less than the motor/rsc seperately lol! I'll have to de-pimp to suit my taste very nicely finished TBLE-01 chassis Tamiya Brushless system (I think its LRP)

Great value @ only $199 - I'd have one for a runner at that price

Wow, $199 shipped in USA. That's a decent deal for the radio and brushless alone! In addition, the TB01 type parts.... Hm.... damn. I may have to get one now, even though trucks aren't my thing.

They retail for $597 and Tamiayusa has them on their site for $400 but they also sell a few on ebay for $199 shipped, only 'problem' is they only ship to USA due to agreements/issues with other international Tamiya Distributers.

wow that is very cheap! I'm still looking for that brushless set but I think it is to expensive new. This makes it a great deal! The car itself is nice too, the TB01 always was a great basher

Wow - That appears to be a fantastic bargain! I'm still surprised that Tamiya found a way to cram a BL system in a TB01 chassis... What is the gear ratio on that thing?

De-pimp indeed you know that secretly inside there's a pimp waiting to get out Great buy at $199 you should buy them up and sell world wide Worth the cash for radio and brushless alone....

Never expected you to buy such a car. It was the price, right? I am sure you will create a nice 4WD Blitzer Beetle of it.

lol, thanks guys yes the price was right and I have had fun with this type of truck as a kid. I actually just ordered the Nitrage 5.2 RTR from them also for $229, unfortunately shipping these out of the country would be tricky since the box is huge and shipping costs would quickly diminish the bargain Not sure what the gear ratio is yet Steve but when I tear into it I'll let you know. I'm guessing it will be smallest pinion option 16t knowing Tamiyas conservative nature

hey,
can you measure the dogbones for me?
i hope it is the same length as the tl01B / twin detonator / wild dagger / wild blaze /etc. because I keep snapping them. and since these are beefier i hope they will last longer (if they are the same size)

Wyoming

2-Mar-2010

They are apx 76mm long (all steel) thicker in middle

Oh and Steve it is 16t pinion 61t spur and comes with a spare 16t pinion also.

I didn't like the looks of it at first, but it's ok. And the big plus; it's based on the TB01 One downside; It doesn't have the slipper clutch of the Super Levant (however, the Super Levant is ugly in any way ou look at it, even after some time) Nice buy, please let us know how it drives!

PS: The Brushless system is not LRP, it's a unsensored brushless system from Team Orion

honestly I agree this thing is actually kinda funky and 'Traxxas-looking' (not a good thing in my book) but the garish body and wheels aside I think it will be a very durable truck since my driving style has never required a slipper clutch but I think people who want to jump it might want one

I agree with the 'Traxxas Look' Seth, but I bet it will be a fun runner .. Your in exclusive company here, not many Levants on this site.

Never thought that you woudt buy a truck like this! Has a bit of the Traxxas revo, meby this beast woudt run better as a Traxxas! Hope you coudt handle and hold that Levant big buggy, or woudt Mt Levant going to play with you lol!

Wyoming

lol, I wouldn't have thought about this type of truck either but I like to try all kinds of RC so I don't get bored with the hobby, I also got a Nitrage for this summer to help shake things up for me. Because I have been stuck in a Scale truck rut for a little to long without trying other vehicle types.

Thanks Seth; The 16/61 tooth combination is the same configuration in the stock TB01s! So the Super Levant includes a slipper and this one doesn't... Really?

Sometimes it pays off to be open minded when buying r/c gear Looking forward to seeing what you do to it

He-he he Seth! I hope you have fun with it. What a bargain at that price. Strange opinions in the comments here. The Super Levant is not really ugly once you see it run and get used to it. Yep, Levant no slipper as in the Super edition.

Me thinks a Parma Sand Rover body and some cool wheels and....Looking good Seth and you will make it look stellar when you are done with it I am sure. Tamiya should send you everything for free to make it look its best and photo shoots and such.

@Wyoming: I agree it's a little Traxxas-ish in looks, but luckily still different than a Traxxas. It would have looked so much better with white wheels and very straight two colour paint scheme (white and medium-dark red with a black stripe in between?), not to speak about the body itself (although it may well be that the body holes match with the Dualhunter as it is the same shell, which means it would match with the Wild Dagger, Twin Detonator and all bodies that went on that chassis, and you can replace it without any problems for a less flashy and Traxxas-ish one).

Wyoming

4-Mar-2010

of Course I'll be using different wheels/tires and body so I'm not overly concerned with the looks of it, I'm used to it now and if I get a second one I'll leave it alone
