1/10 Land Rover LR3
Another project to keep me busy. I bought this toy rc car from my local toyshop. Its made in China by 'rastar'. Very true to 1/10 scale and detail. Car width 183mm,wheelbase 287mm. Features hard plastic shell with opening doors, bonnet rear boot, front doors. Also comes with a nice interior sets, engine bay and clear windows. Paintwork and fit/finish in some areas are a bit out of place but overall it has a lot of potential. It will probably sit on my touareg chassis in the near future. I really hope i can do something to this car.

....the doors don't shut properly on the real thing!!!
dr.roberts
Yup, i slammed the doors a few times and its still the same

very nice find - will fit great on XC's or HighLifts - looking forward to the finished project

Been looking at this car myself for exactly the same reason to go on my touareg so i'll let you do the hard work first then can pick your brains hahaha
Lemming
Just sent one of these back to the seller. Body faults (in manufacturing), door colours different from body, crushed in transit and runs like a dog. If the body had been better I would have looked to use it rather than sending it back... Good luck and will keep watching

@lemming, the doors are definitely a let down. I really have doubts on this car before i purchase but i rather 'have it and figure it out later'. It could be a success or failure. Its worth a shot! Thanks for the encouragement.
dr.roberts
@jeffy, err.. thanks. I'm very surprised you would want to pick my brains.. wow!! i must be smart and inspire you! hahaha
Volksrod
I got one of these cheap last year, came without box or handset so the manager let me have it for £12. Its a very well detailed body, only one door is flared out at the top but easily put into shape. Beware when stripping it down, LOTS of seperate pieces! Mine is sat on a Touareg chassis too, looks good.
spongebob0374
That would definately be one of the most detailed RC body interiors I've ever seen.
TIXX74
For realism police you should fit it on Hummer chassis, cause real land rover has 4 indipendent suspensions!
I don't understand why nobody has fitted this body on hummer chassis, all are mounted on xc chassis.. it's no realistic !
Maybe my hummer will be the first when i'll get a land rover LR3 shell (New bright version..Rastar i have sold cause it's too like a suv)
jeffy
tixx74 has something there and im sure police is please. Yes Doc Roberts i'll pick your brains let you make the mistakes then i can learn from them hahahaha. Will watch with interest
dr.roberts
@jeffy, i make a lot of mistakes, i'm only human. Hahaha.. thanks for watching. Don't forget to post your LR3 too..
dr.roberts
@TIXX74, good point. the hummer chassis is 205mm wide and has a 280mm wheelbase. It will be too wide and short for shell. XCs are narrower and rear axles are much easier to re-adjust to get a correct wheelbase. Another point is, if you compare XC and hummer chassis visually, the XC looks more real to a vehicle. Hummer is chassis is a manta ray buggy based. IMHO.

I tried one on a TA-02 chassis.....need to lock the diffs.....but it looked well before the 'accident'!

@8316dart, thank you for sharing. thats a great idea to combine the original chassis with the TA01. Its only rear wheel drive in the pics if im not wrong.
8316dart
Made up a shaft (just bent wire) to utilise the 4 wheel drive...

Great landrover, love the red color and i like the compleet interior. a lot of details makes this car so real. if you use this chassis, then woudnt al the electronics be save, if you ride trough the mud or something.
dr.roberts
Thanks for your suggestions and comments. I'm still sticking with the XC chassis combo.
